No pictures this time sorry - I also made a lot of oatmeal, some multi-grain cereal with dried cranberries (which I froze), some french toast and an awesome four berry compote. I plan to use the compote on the waffles and in the oatmeal. Kiddo wants to use it on some ice cream but that's how kids are I guess.
I am so grateful to have had a day dedicated to getting things ready for the week. I am planning on making some pasta sauce later and we will use that for dinner sometime later in the week. I also have some cubed beef I am thinking of turning into taco meat as well.
I have really enjoyed just hanging around making food and spending time with my family. I am trying to use all the food we have in the house prior to going to the store, with the exception of milk and bread things like that.

Inspired Cooking part one
So this morning I decided to make some breakfast foods for the week. So much better than cold cereal or fruit on the go. The first meal was waffles. I made about 20 of them and fed some to husband and kiddo for breakfast.
This is the batter
Smoking hot waffle iron
Finished product with some eggs for protein

Sunday Night Food

Fresh brewed passion tea with homemade simple syrup. The tea is from the Tazo iced tea collection. I make mine as sun tea but it is also good if you boil the water and pour it over ice with the tea bag.
To make the simple syrup you simply add equal parts hot water and organic sugar to a saucepan. Heat and stir until all sugar is completely dissolved. This is the key to make sure it blends well with the tea. To make sun tea blend simple syrup and warm water in a pitcher with a tea bag. Set in the sun for two hours.
Since I am a believer in men doing the grilling and women doing the side dishes and the prep work I typically add the seasoning to the steaks. Start with kosher salt, (just a little as it draws moisture out of the meat)fresh ground black pepper and a little Stubbs bbq spice rub. Make sure to season both sides of the meat.
**Not pictured: Veggies - carrots, green beans, squash, red bell peppers and onions seasoned with black pepper. BBQ Bread - white sandwich bread, smear each slice with butter sprinkle with garlic salt. Wrap bread in foil and place on the grill.**
