By popular demand here are some more tips to make everyone’s lives better. Please try them all and let me know how it works. I purposely avoid calling into call centers but I would love to know how these tips work for you if you try them.
Now without further adieu….
*If you are: on the other line, in a drive thru, locked out of your house or otherwise occupied (in the bathroom) please wait until you are through with your current activity before calling in.
*If the person on the other end asks if you will be paying with a Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express you can safely assume that they will accept any of those payment methods.
*If you are calling in with a question that you already know the answer to please do one of the following things: A)Don’t call or B)Let the person answer the question and then hang up nicely.
*Please do not lie to the person on the other end of the line. First of all, lying is wrong. Secondly, you are not that good at it. Third, the other person knows when you are doing it.
*As much of a surprise as this may be to you, the person on the other end of the line has not been sitting at their desk all day waiting for you to call. Chances are that they talked to someone right before you and will talk to someone right after you. That being said, if you need them to do something that is going to take a good deal of time, be prepared to spend that time on the line with them. **Insider tip…if they put you on hold and you hang up there is a good chance that they will not complete your request.
*Please have some respect for the person on the other end of the line. Comments like “I know that I can do it myself tomorrow but I have a ton of things to do…can you just do it for me?” will get you nowhere. ***Newsflash*** they have tons of things to do also.
*It’s not personal. The person on the other end of the line has no animosity towards you and is not making any of the decisions they are making based on their personal feelings. They most likely want to keep their job.I hope this information has been useful. Feel free to add any other tips you may have here.
