Monday Morning

It is Monday morning! Today I start a new adveture: a new job and a new manager....exciting times. I hope you all have a blessed day.

This was not going to be the theme of my entry but I just heard something that irritates me. Of course the first half hour of the news is dedicated to the ".terrible economy" So the first thing that I hear is that the government may start purchasing bad investments from large firms. Do you know what this means? This means that the greedy, somewhat incompetent, mortgage company that gave you that loan that you couldn't afford (never mind the fact that you knew you couldn't afford it) will now be replaced with an even larger, even more greedy, more incompetent, more power hungry group....the Federal Government. How is this supposed to be a good idea? It makes me nervous.

The second thing that I heard was that "at least 4 out of 10 people are spending less on clothes, accessories and other non essentials." Wow...so let me get this straight. That means that 60% of people are spending the same or more. Does that sound like the Great Depression to you? Drive to Fashion Valley or Target for that matter...people are shopping and spending money on some big ticket items. The thing is if you raise their taxes then they will have less money to spend, which means less money for non essential items. It is kind of simple but seems to be a mystery to the current administration.

Last night I watched a show about the current mortgage crisis ad these are three of the examples they pointed out as examples of how the "man" is keeping people down.
*A woman who was nearly homeless took out 2 mortgages to buy a $250,000 condo. her monthly payments were around $2,100 but her income was about $1,600. She claims the mortgage company inflated her monthly income to $7,300 on the documents but she didn't notice it.
*A woman who had 6 mortgages on 4 homes while reporting a yearly income to the IRS of $6,100...she claims to have not known that she did that as she says she had a very lucrative business.
*An illegal immigrant who cannot speak English (That is a whole different topic) who worked as a gardener got a loan for $600,000.

No one bothered to point out that these people shouldn't have taken out these loans, all they said is that the banks shouldn't have given them the money. While that is true; you shouldn't have asked for that much money if you knew you couldn't make the payments.....Personal Responsibility. It's a new concept.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not believe the economy is that bad, sure there is unemployment, sure people are losing their homes, it is tough but it is not a depression. Don't believe the hype; The L-rd provides all my needs according to his riches in glory through Yeshua.
